   Luigi d'AURIA

        Luigi d'AURIA
was born in Agen, France, on May 11, 1943. He received the MS degree in Physics in 1966, the Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies in Data Processing in 1967 and the Diplôme de Docteur de Spécialité (PhD) in 1969 from the Science University of Toulouse. In 1969 he joined THOMSON–CSF (www.thalesgroup.com) Central Research Laboratory, Orsay, France, as research Engineer on optical storage and more particularly holographic memories.

From 1973 to 1975 he was responsible of optical communication systems research in the Integrated Optic Laboratory.

From 1975 to 1986 he was Head of Optical Telecommunications Systems Laboratory involved in R&D of optical fiber transmissions for civil and military applications : digital PTT transmissions, analog video communications, buses for military networks, analog and digital rotating links for radar transmissions, optical interconnections. During this period he was responsible of several R&D projects in the field of optoelectronic devices and lightwave systems, which led to industrial transfers.

Since 1987, he has been the Deputy Manager of the Optoelectronic Group in THOMSON-CSF Central Laboratory and Head of the Optoelectronic Devices Laboratory involved particularly in multigigahertz optoelectronic components and systems for radar applications.
He has directed the Strategic Project « Microwave Optical Applications » involving 3 Research Groups and 7 Laboratories.
